Elena offers therapy in Winter Park, FL

She serves clients locally and throughout the state of Florida.

I’m Elena and I’m so glad you’re here! As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and mom, I love working with women who are experiencing transformation. Although I support clients through all kinds of struggles, I specialize in perinatal mental health and eating disorders.

Becoming a mother is a huge and wonderful transformation. AND you may be feeling lost, anxious, and overwhelmed. It's common to struggle mentally and emotionally during pregnancy and postpartum. Almost every part of your life is changing and you are doing your best to cope.

Know that your experience as a mother matters. You deserve to enjoy motherhood just like your baby deserves to enjoy childhood. I help new and expectant moms find their way through these life changes so that they feel heard, supported, and cared for.

In our sessions, we focus on your strengths and learn self-compassion. We address anxieties, stressors, and difficult feelings so that you feel more grounded and emotionally stable. We process your experiences around the progression of your pregnancy, labor, birth, feeding journey, postpartum healing, the adjustment to being a mom, and so much more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • People often go to therapy because they are experiencing some kind of emotional pain. This may be due to stress, anxiety, trauma, and more. I fully believe that therapy can be helpful for anyone. You do not need to have a diagnosis in order to benefit from seeing a therapist.

If your mental health is getting in the way of daily functioning (school, work, relationships, sleep, diet, etc) it is something worth addressing. I work with my clients to provide support, promote personal growth, develop insight/awareness, and learn coping skills.

  • Most of my clients find weekly or biweekly sessions are the most beneficial for growth and progress. Session frequency may change over time depending on various factors.

  • The length of time varies greatly between clients and what issues they are working through, including how long someone would like to spend in therapy. My goal is to get you to a place where you are stable, empowered, and consistently applying tools to maintain your mental health. The minimum number I typically see clients for is 10 sessions if they are stable and dealing with a specific issue.

  • Yes, there are issues I am not experienced with, and provide information of other therapists who are trained to address those treatment concerns. If you need help with addictions, personality disorders, couples counseling, dissociative disorders, severe trauma, child therapy (18 and younger), I will be glad to refer you to other therapists that can help.

  • Yes! I accept United Healthcare, Oscar Health, Oxford, Aetna and Cigna.

  • Not everyone in therapy takes medication for their mental health concerns. Medication is a very helpful tool for some, but others do not find it necessary. Medication coupled with therapy can provide many benefits. Medication can help some mental health symptoms, but therapy can address the deeper issues and causes of your distress.

I am not a medical doctor and am unable to prescribe medication or give advice regarding medication. I would be happy to refer you to a psychiatrist that can assess your need for medication and answer questions you may have about this treatment option.

What if we held the mother first?

What if we held her so much she could breathe out those worries-the ones wrapping those tight circles in her mind?

What if we asked her, how are you really doing? And what if we held space for the answer-whatever it might be?
